Authorities seize stolen archeological pieces in Palmyra

Homs, SANA – Competent authorities seized Monday a number of archeological pieces which date back to the first and second centuries A.D. while searching one of the farms near al-Madafeen area to the south of Palmyra city in Homs countryside.

A source in Homs told SANA that terrorists excavated in the farms area and unearthed a number of archeological pieces, preparing them to be smuggled and sold outside the country.

National Palmyra Museum Curator Khalil al-Hariri said the archeological pieces included a half panel of strong limestone for a man, a half panel for a woman with her traditional clothes, jewels and a funeral picture.
