New York, SANA – The UN has announced that it is holding comprehensive negotiations to release the 43 soldiers from the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Syrian Golan who were kidnapped by a terrorist group two days ago.

The AFP quoted UN Spokesman Stephane Dujarric as saying on Friday “The UN IS continuing deliberations with a large number of people in Syria, and is exerting all possible efforts to guarantee the safety of its workers.”

Dujarric indicated that the UN addressed the US which might have a sort of “control on the gunmen” to urge them to release the kidnapped soldiers.

Earlier, the UN Security Council strongly condemned kidnapping 43 soldiers from the UNDOF and besieging 81 others by a terrorist group in the surrounding of Rouehina and Breka villages in the Syrian Golan two days ago.

In the same context, a source at the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Thursday said that the Syrian government holds the terrorist organizations and the sides backing them fully responsible for the safety of the kidnapped soldiers and demands their immediate release.
