Cabinet ratifies contract with Chinese company to improve communications in Hasaka province

Damascus, SANA, The Cabinet on Tuesday congratulated Syrians over the success of the presidential elections and President Bashar al-Assad for winning the elections.

Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halaqi, who chaired the session, said that the recent amnesty decree issued by President al-Assad is a call for overcoming hardships and supporting national unity to prepare for the reconstruction stage.

Al-Halaqi reviewed the state of services and economy and the Cabinet’s recent activities, noting an improvement in the economic conditions and the Syrian Pound exchange rate.

He called on the relevant ministries to take the necessary steps to purchase crops from farmers, and providing student housing for Aleppo University students.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem, presented a political briefing on latest regional and international developments, in which he said that the success of the presidential elections shocked Syria’s enemies and proved the Syrians’ commitment to the unity, sovereignty, and independent decision of their country and their rallying around President al-Assad.

Afterwards, the Cabinet approved a number of bills, including one on amending the rental law and one on reducing fuel allocations for state-owned vehicles, and ratified a contract with the Chinese company PCCW for improving telephone services in Hasaka province.

The Cabinet also approved a number of steps to secure gas lines supplying electric power stations which have been coming under attack by terrorists repeatedly.
