Agriculture Ministry: A marine line to export Syrian agricultural products to Russia to operate soon

Tartous, SANA – Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian reform at the caretaker government Ahmad al-Qadiri said the Ministry is keen to provide promising markets to export the Syrian agricultural products.

During a meeting with a number of farmers in Dreikish on Sunday, al-Qadiri said the marine line to export Syrian agricultural products to Russia will be operative soon, adding that activating exportation of these products solves a lot of problems hindering the work of farmers in Syria, especially as the need of the Russian markets is estimated at 12 billion Euros per year.

He pointed out that two dams will be constructed in Tartous province starting from 2015, and that the Ministry is providing all kinds of needed fertilizers.

Earlier on the day, al-Qadriri held a meeting with farmers and agricultural industrialists in Tartous city, where measures taken by the government and ministry to support the agricultural sector and obstacles hindering the work of farmers were discussed.
