Cairo, SANA-Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed today the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and support the aspirations of its people.
President Al-Sisi said in a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart in Cairo: “Our discussions addressed urgent regional issues, foremost among them the situation in our sisterly Syria, where we renewed our full support for the brotherly Syrian people.”
He noted that during the talks, the rejection of any manifestations of partition in Syria was emphasized, and the need for the political process to be comprehensive, while continuing efforts to combat terrorism.
Al-Sisi stated that the two sides stressed “the condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian sovereignty and the necessity of Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied Syrian territories and respect for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
For his part, President Aoun affirmed Lebanon’s support for all efforts aimed at preserving Syria’s unity and sovereignty and meeting the aspirations of its people.
He welcomed the decision to lift sanctions, expressing hope that it would contribute to Syria’s recovery and regional stability.
