Abkhaz President underlines importance of economic cooperation with Syria

Sukhumi, SANA- President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba said economic cooperation with Syria will be among the priorities of bilateral relations between the two countries.

In an interview with the Russian Sputnik agency and RT Channel, Khajimba said issues related to building robust economies take center stage in his country’s priorities, which he said will be important for both Abkhazia and Syria.

“Contacts are underway to enhance economic relations, particularly in the fields of marine transportation, agriculture and education,” he pointed out.

The president added that Abkhazia will participate proactively in these fields, especially with respect to cooperation between chambers of commerce.

He hailed the Syrian expo held in Abkhazia which he said allowed Abkhazi people to get to know the Syrian products.

On May 29, Foreign and Expatriates Ministry declared that Syria, Abkhazia and Ossetia agreed to exchange recognition and set up Embassy-level diplomatic relations.
