Heads of churches in Damascus call for remaining in the land of ancestors

Damascus Countryside, SANA – Upon an invitation of Mar Ignatius Aphrem II, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East and Supreme Leader of the Syriac Orthodox Church, the heads of churches in Damascus held a meeting at Mar Aphrem monastery in Ma’aret Sednaya, Damascus Countryside.

The meeting was attended by John X Yazigi, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and Joseph Absi, Patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, along with Cardinal Mario Zenari, Apostolic Nuncio to Syria.

The participants discussed the situation in the region and the effect of the past few years on its people in general and Christians in particular.

The participants called for remaining committed to the land of the ancestors, praying for the return of the abducted Bishops Paul Yazigi and John Ibrahim, and expressing pride in Syria’s victory over terrorism.
