Mikdad: Syrian state cares about handling humanitarian cases based on adherence to international law

Damascus, SANA- Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad on Thursday handed over the Italian child of Albanian origin, Elvis, who was detained in al-Houl Camp, to Head of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Francesco Rocca in presence of head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) Khalid Hubobati.

Mikdad congratulated the child’s parents, SARC, and IFRC on this achievement, which represents the true humanitarian essence of the Syrian state policies, affirming that the Syrian state cares about handling these humanitarian cases based of its adherence to the principles of international humanitarian law to the contrary of some Western states which claim respecting this law while they evade their obligations, and exploit the human dimension to practice political blackmail.

Mikdad expressed the Syrian state’s readiness to provide all necessary facilitations to help children who are victims of the practices of terrorist organizations in Syria, and their supporting countries in Western Europe.

For his part, Rocca voiced deep thanks to the cooperation shown by the Syrian government, and SARC to facilitate the return of this child to his family and end his suffering.
