Syria beats the Philippines in World Cup and AFC Asian Cup qualification match

Abu Dhabi, SANA – Syria’s national football team won against the Philippines team 1-0 in their match as part of the AFC second round of 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualification.

The match, which took place on Tuesday at Maktoum Bin Rashid Stadium in the UAE, was dominated by the Syrian team, which scored the first and only goal of the match at the 22nd minute mark, with the Syrian team maintaining the offensive pressure throughout the two halves, but couldn’t score any additional goals despite several close shots.

With this win, Syria strengthened its lead in the ranking of Group A with 15 points, with China remaining in second place with 7 points, followed by the Philippines with 7 points, the Maldives with 6 points, and Guam with zero points.
