Cabinet approves plan for providing subsidized essential supplies for citizens

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet approved on Sunday a plan by the Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Ministry and the Economy and Foreign Trade Ministry for providing subsidized essential supplies for citizens using the electronic services card.

During a weekly session chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, the Cabinet also approved the necessary funding for carrying out signed contracts for providing essential food supplies.

The Cabinet also approved the plan and budget of the Agricultural Production Support Fund, with the budget being set at SYP 15 billion, marking a 50% increase from 2019.

The Cabinet reviewed the steps taken by Ministries to begin implementing the e-payment system, tasking the Finance Ministry with finalizing the procedures of the e-payment infrastructure at banks.

The Cabinet also gave its approval for starting the development projects in Homs province which have been approved recently, some of which will be launched next month.

In addition, the Cabinet approved providing the requirements for printing 67 million school textbooks for the next school year.
