People’s Assembly passes bill on exam fees, discusses electricity and transport issues

Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill on collecting the fees for basic education diplomas exams from students.

Education Minister Hazwan al-Waz said that reviewing exam fees will help reduce the burdens shouldered by the state treasury and provide better exam conditions, noting that the law takes into account the status of regular students and cases where exemptions can be made.

The law exempts the children of martyrs, Arab students who receive monthly grants from the Education Ministry, blind students, disabled students, students at rehabilitation centers for people with disabilities, and prisoners from exam fees.

During the session, Electricity Minister Imad Khamis and Transport Minister Ghazwan Kheir Bek addressed written questioned submitted by Assembly members.
