President al-Assad issues law on settling status of undeclared gold

Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad issued on Sunday Law no. 35 for 2014 stipulating that persons who own undeclared gold bullions and haven’t paid import fees for it to settle their status by registering it and paying the fees without suffering any legal liability.

Owners of undeclared gold must pay a fee of USD 200 or its equivalent value in the Syrian pound for each 1kg of gold to the Central Bank of Syria.

The Law exempts undeclared gold from all fees, taxes or any other duties when its status is settled.
