Mawla Hassan Forest… Natural Heritage along Tartous Mountains

Tartous, SANA-Natural forests in Syria constitute unique heritage in terms of biodiversity and genetic diversity, as the number of wild plant species that exist in the Syrian forests are approximately 800 ones.

Forests in al-Qadmous region of Tartous province occupy an estimated rate of about 40 % of the percentage of forests in the province, anyone can see natural and terrain diversity which are abundant, including the Mawla Hasan forest.

Mawla Hassan Forest, which covers an area of about 50 hectares, and is one of the most important tourist sites overlooking al-Qadmous region,it includes pine trees, cypresses, and cedars,some of these trees may reach 30 meters in height, as well as perennial oaks trees, some of which may date back to hundreds of years.

The Forest is located about 1 km east of Al-Qadmous, at an altitude of 1150 meters above sea level. It is one of the most beautiful parks in Syria in terms of its picturesque nature and charming scenery.

The area is a destination for many people fleeing from hot and humidity of the coastal summer and look for an atmosphere to enjoy entertainment in the winter.

The forest witnesses biological diversity and habitat for many extinction- endangered species.
Mawla Hassan Forest is of high value and has many economic, social, cultural and aesthetic benefits.

It contributes to preserving the environmental balance, increasing water reserves, stabilizing the soil, encouraging ecotourism, and improving the economic life standard level of the population.

The most important feature of that forest is that it overlooks the international road which link the coastal city of Banias and the city of Misyaf in the central region, and it overlooks the mountains of Lattakia, Tartous and Lebanon, and the location of the forest has contributed to attracting many tourism projects such as hotels and cafes.

Syria welcomes all visitors from across the country to enjoy its beautiful scenes.
