Safwan al-Abed performs classical Aleppo music at Damascus Opera House

Damascus, SANA – Singer Safwan al-Abed performed a concert at the main hall of the Opera House at Al-Assad House for Culture and Arts on Monday evening, presenting a variety of Qudud Halabiya (a form of classical Syrian music native to Aleppo).

Accompanied by his band, al-Abed performed for two hours, presenting pieces from Syria’s classical musical heritage, in addition to classic Arab music and old Andalusia-style music, concluding the concert by saluting the audience, Syria, and his hometown of Aleppo.

Al-Abed was born in Aleppo in 1962, and he embraced sophist music and Aleppo’s musical heritage at a very young age, and later studied under skilled Aleppo singers like Abdelqader Hajjar, Abdelrahman Mdallal, and Nadim Darwish.
