3300 hectares cultivated with cotton crop in Hasaka Province

Hasaka, SANA- Farmers in Hasaka Province continue to cultivate their lands with the cotton crop in implementation of the agricultural sub-plan, bringing the total area cultivated with the strategic crop to 3,300 hectares to date.

“The operations of cultivating the cotton crop started at the beginning of this month and they will continue until the middle of next month, as farmers prefer to cultivate cotton as a major summer crop in various areas of agricultural stability that have stable water resources,” Head of Agricultural Production Department at the Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Hasaka, Engineer Jalal Bilal said.

Bilal added that the improvement in the reality of water storage in the water bodies and groundwater in the province will contribute to completing the implementation of the agricultural sub-plan for the cotton crop.

It is noteworthy that the area planned to be cultivated with the cotton crop in Hasaka Province for the current season is 6,800 hectares.
