Sabbagh: Israeli aggression must be ended, aid to Gaza must be reached

Kampala, SANA-All efforts must be mobilized to stop Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and to ensure aid entry there, along with stopping forced migration in all its forms, said Deputy Foreign and Expatriates minister, Bassam Sabbagh.

Participating in the 5th meeting of Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations held on the sideline of the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda with the theme “Deepening cooperation for shared global affluence”, Sabbagh highlighted that Israel must be punished for its criminal acts, highly appreciating in this concern South Africa’ move to prosecute Israeli occupation before the International Court of Justice(ICJ).

Peace and Stability in the Middle East will not be achieved without ending the Israeli occupation of Arab lands since 1967 or without establishing the Palestinians’ independent state.

The Group, in the meeting, touched upon all the violation the United Nations Charter is subjected to, on top the ongoing Israeli aggression on Palestinians since 100 days along with the genocides committed by Israel.

The meeting adopted a political declaration in which the participants expressed their solidarity with the Palestinians and their strong commitment to supporting their struggle to achieve their inalienable rights, end the Israeli occupation, and establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The declaration also voiced deep concern about the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian sovereignty, welcoming the efforts aimed at holding Israel accountable for its crimes and categorically rejecting all unilateral coercive measures used as tools of political and economic pressure against any country, especially developing countries and their peoples, calling for the immediate, complete and unconditional lifting of those measures.
