Guterres: International humanitarian law is under threat as the Israeli attack on Gaza continues

Geneva, SANA-  UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed that international humanitarian law is under threat in light of the continued aggression of the Israeli occupation on Gaza Strip.

“Nothing justifies the collective punishment of the Palestinian people, and international humanitarian law is under threat in light of the continuing of Israeli attack on Gaza Strip and the killing of tens of thousands of civilians,” Guterres said in a speech today during the start of the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Wafa quoted Guterres as saying.

Guterres said that the Israeli invasion of Rafah city the southern Gaza ,is  a terrible act for more than a million Palestinians who have taken refuge there, and confirming that the humanitarian assistance is absolutely insufficient, pointing out that the presence of UNRWA is essential in the Strip in order to distribute urgent humanitarian relief assistance.
