National Earthquake Center: earthquake measuring 5.5 degrees hits eastern Hama

Damascus, SANA- An earthquake measuring 5.5 on Richter magnitude scale hit Monday eastern Hama city.

“An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred in eastern Hama city at 11:56 p.m” Director of the National Earthquake Center, Dr. Raed Ahmad, said in a statement.

Dr. Ahmed added that there is no fear of imminent tremors.

Monitoring stations also later registered 4 weak aftershocks following the 11.56 pm tremor.
