Health Ministry: No “monkeypox” infections recorded in Syria till now

Damascus, SANA- Health Ministry announced Monday that no infections of monkeypox (Mpox) were reported in syria till now, stressing that health sector is in full readiness through disseminating precautionary measures to all epidemiological investigation teams in all provinces, and health workers at border crossings.

The ministry said that “Mpox” is a rare viral disease transmitted to people through contact with infected animals , as the 1st human case was recorded in 1970 in Congo, then later this disease outbreak in Central and West Africa.

The disease can be prevented through the same precautionary measures taken against Covid-19, as well there are no specific medications or vaccines available to combat the infection, but some antiviral medications can be used.
