Campaign to help and entertain orphans in Damascus continues

Damascus, SANA – “Syria Brings US Together” association organized Monday an entertainment activity at al-Aman orphanage in Damascus city in the framework of the activities of World Orphan Week, that is being celebrated all over Syria.

The event included distributing gifts and toys to children.

The orphanage’s manager Manal Abdul-Majeed al-Khatib said in a statement to SANA that the orphanage takes in children aged 6-12 and provides full care services, including food, education and entertainment.

As this branch of the orphanage is currently hosting 150 boys, its other branch hosts the same number of girls. Al-Khatib noted that three new classes have opened recently to accommodate more orphaned children.

She pointed out that the orphanage is funded by the Ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments).

Yesterday’s event was held in the course of a campaign titled “We Are All in Happiness Together” that began 10 days ago and includes visiting orphanages in Damascus and its Countryside as well as visiting martyrs’ families.

The campaign is meant to “draw a smile on children’s faces” and offer social and psychological support to help them cope with the hardships they are going through under the ongoing terrorist war in the country.
