Australian sports’ delegation affirms support to Syria against terrorism

Lattakia, SANA – Lattakia Governor Ibrahim Khodr al-Salem affirmed on Sunday that Syria will defeat terrorism, thanks to its Army’ sacrifices, wise leadership and the awareness of its people.

Meeting an Australian sports’ visiting delegation, al-Salem pointed out that all sports activities, whether they were internal or external, are still running in the county in spite of the crisis’ conditions, adding that the Syrian champions prove their superiority in all sport events.

The governor hoped the delegation’ visit would be a step towards the return of tourism to Syria, calling on members of the delegation to inspect the truth on what is happening in Syria and to reveal the volume of lies and distorted image broadcast by some hostile TV channels.

David Smith, an Australian champion boxer, said the visit aims to support Syria and its people in their war against terrorism and extremism and to enhance relations between Australian and Syrian peoples.

The delegation also visited Ugarit archaeological site and listened to an explanation about its historic edifice.

Meanwhile, the delegation participated in a joint training exercises and games with a number of Lattakia boxing team al-Assad Sports’ City.
