Homs, SANA – On occasion of St. Elias’ day, a mass for peace in Syria was held on Sunday at St. Elias Church in Fairouza area in Homs.
In a sermon during the mass, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East Mar Ignatius Afram II said that the national unity in Syria made it strong in the face of pressure and challenges, asserting that Syria’s salvation lies in reconciliation among Syrians.
He called for adhering to Arab rights despite all circumstances and pressure, lauding the sacrifices of the army and honest citizens in defending Syria and restoring security and stability to it, calling on Syrians abroad to return to the homeland.
At the conclusion of his visit to the area, Patriarch Afram II laid the foundation stone for a housing project which will be built via endowments funds, meeting parish members in Sadad, Fairouza, Kahila, and neighboring villages.
