People’s Assembly Speaker: Syrians will not forget Russian support in facing terrorism

Damascus, SANA- Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas affirmed on Sunday that the Syrian people will not forget the political, economic and military support provided by the Russian Federation to Syria in the face of foreign conspiracies and terrorism.

During a meeting with a Russian popular delegation visiting Syria currently, Abbas hailed the Russian use of the right of veto on Saturday against the French draft resolution on Syria submitted to the UN Security Council which was aimed at destabilizing security and stability in the region and supporting terrorists and their financiers.

In turn, Leonid Isayev, head of the delegation pointed out that the Syrian people are not only defending their country but also the entire world, adding that the Russian state has principles with regard to foreign policy and is making great efforts at all international forums to emphasize the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.speaker-abbas-russian-delegation-1

For their part, members of the delegation affirmed the importance of strengthening the parliamentary relations between Syria and Russia and developing them for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.

The delegation includes a number of Russian scholars, researchers, journalists and political experts, Dr. Wael Junaid, head of the Syrian community in Russia, and a number of community’s members.

 

Grand Mufti meets Russian popular delegation

Syria’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun affirmed on Sunday that Russia’s stances towards Syria in the face of global terrorism and the Western conspiracy is standing with the values of truth, justice and peace.

During a meeting with the Russian popular delegation which is visiting Syria, Hassoun said that Russia’s support for Syria is one of the reasons behind the economic sanctions and the war waged by the West, led by the United States, on Russia, expressing his confidence that those sanctions will reflect badly on the Western powers.mufti-hassoun-russian-delegation-1

In turn, Dr. Leonid Isayev, head of the delegation affirmed that the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army, supported by friendly and allied countries, against terrorism are clear for the whole world, adding that “as long as Russian people and army are standing by your side in the fight against the common enemy of terrorism, victory will be ours”.
