Um al-Izam village in Homs, a unique tourist destination

Homs, SANA – Famous for abundance of terebinth and oak trees and its charming climate, the historical village of Um al-Izam in the western countryside of Homs makes a unique tourist destination for many in the area.

Located on a hill that is 700 m above sea level, Um al-Izam dates back to hundreds of years ago where it was made of only one stony house before people started to successively arrive in it and settle down, building more houses.

The village includes a number of religious sites and archeological monuments and ruins built of basalt stone.
