Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bassam Sabbagh, received on Wednesday Major General Nirmal Thapa, Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force operating in the occupied Syrian Golan (UNDOF), on a farewell visit on the occasion of the end of his mission in Syria.
During the meeting, Sabbagh expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by Major General Thapa during his term of office, referring to the importance of UNDOF role it plays in monitoring Israeli violations along the line of disengagement of forces in the occupied Syrian Golan.
Minister Sabbagh renewed Syria’s condemnation and rejection of the illegal measures recently taken by the occupying entity along the line, which constitute a flagrant violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, calling on Security Council to put an end to these violations.
For his part, Major General Thapa stressed the commitment of UNDOF forces to work on implementing the mandate granted to them and monitoring the ceasefire line in the disengagement zone, expressing his appreciation for the support that Syria provides to UNDOF.
