Abdrahmanov, Tamim bin Hamad discuss expanding the number of participants in Astana process on Syria

Astana, SANA – Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov discussed with Emir of Qatar Sheikhdom Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani means of expanding the number of participants in Astana process on Syria.

On its website, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry stated that the two sides discussed several urgent issues at international arena, particularly the situation in Syria, Astana process and the possibility of expanding the number of participating parties through inviting Arab countries, including Qatar.

The Kazakh capital hosted three meetings on Syria; the first meeting was held on January 23 – 24, as its final statement stressed commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity while the second one was on February 16 and discussed enhancing the cessation of hostilities in Syria and the third one was held on March 14-15 in the absence of “armed opposition” delegations.
