Damascus Chamber of Commerce and officials discuss early recovery plan for industrial facilities

Damascus, SANA – The Damascus and its Countryside Chamber of Commerce and representatives of al-Baath Party, Damascus Countryside Governorate, the Industry Directorate, and the Syrian Business and Establishments Center on Tuesday discussed the Chamber’s work plan for the early recovery of industrial facilities in Damascus and its countryside.

Chairman of the Chamber’s board of directors Bassel Hamwi asserted commitment to finding suitable solutions for problems facing industrialists, particularly those whose facilities were damaged by terrorist attacks.

Hamwi reviewed the Chamber’s work plan which involves forming a team and assigning supervisors for each area to be rehabilitated, as well as supporting industrial establishments, stressing the need for making lists of registered industrialists and the ones who whose business was affected by the crisis, with careful study of each area’s situation to focus on areas individually.

He pointed out that 20 separate industrial areas were identified in Damascus Countryside and assigned a supervisor, and work is underway to assess the status of establishments in al-Mleiha area where there are 114 industrial facilities.

Participants in the meeting stressed the need for long-term and short-term plans to address industrial issues, supporting small and micro projects, and networking among sources of funding, employment centers, and industrial facilities.

They also called for providing security for industrial areas and employing people staying in temporary housing centers to help alleviate their burdens.
