Damascus, SANA – The Budget and Accounts Committee at the People’s Assembly discussed on Thursday the 2018 investment budget of Ministry of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) that was set at SYP 100.500 million.

The Committee members focused on the importance of developing and unifying the religious discourse, developing religious education Curricula and following a clear approach regarding Friday sermons.

In his answers to the Committee members’ inquires, Assistant Minister of Religious Endowments (Awqaf) Wassim Maulana said a general approach for Friday sermons has already been launched to unify subjects based on verified Sharia references.

He added that the 2018 budget will focus on developing Sharia education curricula and documenting and automating religious endowment.

The Committee discussed the investment budget of Social Affairs and Labor Ministry and its affiliated establishments for 2018, which was set at SYP about 1.622 billion.

Later, the Committee discussed the 2018 investment budget of Administrative Development Ministry that was set at SYP 537 million.
