Shanghai Summit calls for peaceful solution to crisis in Syria

Dushanbe, SANA – The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) called for settling the crisis in Syria via peaceful means through comprehensive inter-Syrian dialogue.

In the communiqué of the 2-day summit held in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe, the members states welcomed the disposal of the chemical materials in Syria.

The SCO was established in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Iran, Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan joined the organization as observer members later.

Rouhani: Combatting terrorism requires participation of all Middle Eeast countries

The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that fighting terrorism requires the participation of all countries in the Middle East region.

In his speech during the activities of the (SCO) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, President Rouhani said it is naïve to think aerial bombardment is the way to eliminate terrorism.

He stressed that the atrocities and massacres committed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) are the result of the expansionary policies carried out by some major powers.
