Syrian-made religious icon for Alexandria Church of St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, SANA-Syrian artist Mohamed Abdul Salam presented a religious art icon for the Church of St Catherine of Alexandria at the Russian city of Saint Petersburg.

The icon was provided on behalf of the Syrian people in recognition of the Russian positions supporting the Syrian people amid a mass and official delivery ceremony.

Speaking to SANA, Abdul Salam, who is an expatriate at Russia, said that the painting depicts Jesus Christ and his cross, and includes Aramaic letters and Arabic synonyms.

The painting was made of gypsum with a density of 3 cm which made the work a little bit difficult, according to Abdul Salam.

He said that this painting was carried out in cooperation with the Syrian Consulate in St. Petersburg and the Syrian community in the city.
