Sit-ins by Syrian students and communities in world capitals calling for lifting economic blockade on Syria

Capitals, SANA – Branches of the National Union of Syrian Students (NUSS) and the Syrian communities abroad staged sit-ins in front of European missions in several world capitals on Saturday in call for lifting the economic blockade on Syria under the title of “Lift your unjust  blockade on Syria.”

In this context, the Syrian students and community in Austria as well as members of “ Hands off Syria” Initiative expressed rejection and condemnation of all forms of unjust  coercive measures imposed on Syria in addition to sending terrorists to it in implementation of  expansionist and aggressive policies.

The Syrian students and community in Egypt also condemned the policies of economic blockade for subjugating peoples and governments that reject foreign dictates and adhere to its independent national decision.

NUSS Chairman in Egypt William al-Moallem said in a sit-in held in the Syrian consular mission in Cairo that today’s event is a call for lifting the economic blockade imposed by the European Union on the Syrian people.

For his part Dr. Ryad Sneih, Head of the Syrian Consulate in Cairo stressed that in spite of the blockade, Syria is victorious, adding “there are western states that are standing against Syria and we say to them stop your terrorism and your support to terrorism.”

In New Delhi,  a mass of Syrian students and community gathered in the Indian Capital in rejection of the unjust economic sanctions on Syria, calling the international community to stand by the side of Syria in confronting terrorism.

The Syrian students in the Russian universities during their gathering in Moscow in cooperation with their Russian colleagues and members of the Syrian community and Baath Arab Socialist Party called for ending the unjust sanctions imposed by the EU states on Syria.

The participants carried banners in Arabic, English and Russian saying “Hand off Syria…end eight years of sanctions” and “sanctions on Syria equals supporting international terrorism.”

Russian student Piotr Rybakov said that the Syrian students announce from all over the world their condemnation of the western sanctions imposed on their country, adding that the Russian students show solidarity with them.

In Havana, NUSS held in cooperation with the Syrian Embassy and the Syrian community an event to condemn the western coercive measures imposed on Syria . The participants carried banners in Arabic and Spanish that condemn the unjust blockade imposed on Syria.

For his part, Chairman of the Arab Union in Cuba Alfredo Darwish condemned the blockade imposed by the USA and the EU states, denouncing the unilateral policies taken by the Imperialistic states in order to control nations whose policies do not match to theses states’.

In the Algerian capital, the Syrian students called in a sit-in organized in coordination with the Syrian Embassy for the need to lift the blockade, sending a letter to the EU Ambassador condemning all the coercive measures burdening the Syrian people.

In Beirut, NUSS and Syrian Workers’ Association held in cooperation with Lebanese student organizations a sit-in in front of the United Nations ESCWA HQ to condemn the coercive measures.

Speeches were delivered during the sit-in on Syria’s resilience in the face of the war of terrorism throughout the past eight years.

In Spain, the Syrian students and community held a sit-in in the Cultural Center in the city of Alicante condemned the unjust sanctions imposed by the USA , western states and the Turkish regime.

The participants expressed pride over the steadfastness of the Syrian people in confronting the war of terrorism, calling the Spanish people to express solidarity with Syria in its war on terrorism.

In Germany, NUSS held a supportive stance, expressing in a statement directed to the European Commission rejection of the unjust blockade imposed on Syria in coincidence with the war of terrorism.

In the capital of Czech Republic, NUSS organized a solidarity standing where the students expressed rejection of all forms of sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.

NUSS organized similar sit-ins in Romania, Belarus, Poland, Sudan, Tunisia, Belgium, Hungary, France, Malaysia and Moldavia in rejection of the economic blockade imposed by the west on Syria.
