Damascus, SANA- Indian Ambassador in Damascus Man Mohan Bhanot affirmed his country’s solidarity with Syria and its appreciation of the Syrians’ sacrifices for eradicating terrorism from every inch of  their homeland.

The Ambassador’s remarks came in a speech delivered during a reception  held Sunday by the Indian Embassy at the Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel to celebrate  the 70th Republic Day of India.

He indicated that India has exerted all possible efforts to alleviate the suffering of the friendly country of Syria.

He added that the project of providing prosthetic limbs for the amputees and the disabled will be opened in March 2019 in the Syrian city of Jablieh.

Bhanot expressed hope that the scholarships granted by India to the Syrians will help qualifying and training the cadres to be able to contribute to the reconstruction of their homeland.

He noted that the visits paid by a number of Indian businessmen to Damascus with the aim of consolidating bilateral cooperation will be fruitful.

For his part, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad said that the technical cooperation between Syria and India is rapidly developing.

Mikdad added that this cooperation comes in framework of implementing  what President Bashar al-Assad affirmed of enhancing the rapprochement with the east in a time when the Western states and the US are adopting the policy of imposing sanctions and brutal siege on the Syrian people  to serve “Israel” and support terrorism.

He indicated that India has opened its universities and educational and technological institutions to train and qualify Syrian students and it stands by  Syria in its war against terrorism.
