“My Doctor” initiative… humanitarian project providing medical consultations

Damascus, SANA- An initiative dubbed “My Doctor” was launched by a number of Syrian doctors inside Syria and abroad with the aim of spreading important medical information about all the specialties.

The initiative also seeks to provide non-emergent medical consultations of the first level to whoever has a health condition that doesn’t require a clinical examination.
Spreading medical awareness among all the Syrians regardless of their educational background is one of the initiative’s goals, in addition to holding specialized workshops for the students of medicine faculties.

“My Doctor” initiative was launched on August 28th in cooperation with another initiative titled “My Giving” to contribute to establishing an integrated society whose members will be able to share their knowledge and gain experiences with their society where ever they are.

The initiative works on ending the incorrect common medical practices and traditions in a simple scientific style that is not complicated.

Founder of the initiative, who resides in the US, Dr. Nour al-Sharif said that the humanitarian side of any doctor’s work has been the main motive behind launching the initiative which helps the people and encourages the doctors to shoulder their responsibilities towards the society.

Al-Sharif indicated that the initiative includes more than 25 doctors who have studied at international universities.

The doctors provide medical consultations to the people through the social networking websites such as the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube as the supervisors of the websites receive messages describing the conditions of the patients and they later distribute them among the doctors according to their specialties.

If the doctor finds that the condition of the patient entails a clinical examination, he sends his file to another doctor in the area where the patient lives in order to consider his condition.

Last February, the initiative launched an activity titled “Online Clinic” which is held once a month as all doctors meet together and they answer the questions of the patients online and try to find the correct solutions to their cases.
