Event to increase environmental awareness among children held at Damascus Citadel

Damascus, SANA – An event to raise children’s awareness of environmental issues was launched by the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs in cooperation with the Korean Business Center.

The event included a wide range of entertainment activities, comedy plays and contests, all to the effect of educating children on the importance of protecting the environment.

The aim of the event, which was held at the Citadel of Damascus, is to contribute to appropriately preparing children to “interact with the environment” and introducing them to environment-related general knowledge and concepts, according to Deputy Minister Suleiman Kalo.

The event, he added, seeks to help children take responsibility for preserving the environmental resources and biodiversity.

Representatives of the Baath Vanguards Organization, Syria’s Scouts, volunteer teams and the Agriculture directorates of Damascus and its countryside will be taking part in the event, which will continue over three days and targets children between 7 and 12.
