Health Ministry: Coronavirus tests are ongoing to detect any infection in Jdeidet al-Fadel and Ras al-M’ara towns

Damascus, SANA- Health Ministry said that investigation teams began to carry out coronavirus tests for persons who were in contact with a 70-year-old woman who has died on Wednesday where nine new cases, who were in contact with the old woman were registered in Jdeidet al-Fadel in Quneitra province.

The Ministry said in statement read by Assistant Director of the Infectious and Terminal Diseases Department Dr. Atef al-Tawil that four buildings have been quarantined in Jdeidet al-Fadel in parallel with reducing gatherings and crowds to ensure the safety of citizens.

A medical team comprises of 105 health workers, among them eight doctors are working 14 hours straight a day to carry out medical tests in Ras al-M’ara town in Damascus countryside which is on lockdown for 11 days after a coronavirus case was registered in the town.

The Ministry indicated that with the return of life to normal in the country and the gradual lifting of precautionary measures in various countries of the world, however, the coronavirus epidemic has not ended and it is still recording global, regional and local infections, affirming the necessity to adhere to preventive measures in universities, workplaces and tourist facilities and others in order to ensure the safety of citizens , society and prevent the spread of virus.

The Ministry added that while Director-General of the World Health Organizatio Tedros Adhanom called for global solidarity so that humanity can overcome the coronavirus pandemic, the US and European countries are tightening their coercive measure imposed on Syria and that undermine the capacity and the performance of the health sector in Syria.
