Prayers for funerals in mosques of Damascus and its Countryside suspended

Damascus, SANA- The Religious Endowments (Awqaf) Ministry announced on Sunday that prayers for funerals have been suspended in mosques in Damascus and its countryside until further notice as a part of the preventive measures taken to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the two provinces.

The Ministry pointed out that prayers for the deceased are to be limited to family members in cemeteries, calling on the Endowments Directorates in Damascus and its countryside to coordinate with burial offices in the two provinces to ensure complete adherence to the instructions for the sake of public safety.

On July 22nd, the Ministry announced the suspension of Eid al-Adha holiday prayer in mosques in Damascus and its countryside due to the wide spread of the Coronavirus pandemic and the link between prayer and some social traditions that lead to overcrowding.
