Syria, Russia: Unjust economic blockade hinders return of Syrian refugees

Damascus, SANA-Participants in a joint Syrian, Russian press conference presented the efforts exerted by Syria and Russia in order to restore the normal life to areas liberated from terrorism and repatriate the Syrian displaced and refugees to their Homeland.

Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, briefed the participants on the Syrian State’s efforts exerted to confront the terrorist war, and tackle its repercussions, whether in the relief, humanitarian or in social domains, in addition to the presidential Amnesty decrees that amounted 16 ones.

Makhlouf said that 93 public shelter centers were established, 19736 damaged houses were rehabilitated, adding that hundreds of thousands refugees have returned Home while nearly four million displaced inside the country returned to their regions.

He went on to say that the unjust blockade and unilateral coercive measures imposed by countries supporting terrorism on Syria hinder the return of the displaced and refugees and destabilize the situation in Syria, as well as they negatively affect the economic and social situation, especially the health sector in light of the spread of the Corona pandemic.

For his part, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Sousan, hailed the continuous development of relations and coordination between Syria and Russia in a way that serves common interests.

He added that following the field achievements carried out by the Syrian Arab Army with the support of the allies, the Syrian policy has been mainly based on combating terrorism until its full elimination and liberating the entire national territory from any terrorist or illegitimate presence, whether it was a US or Turkish.

Susan stressed that the US occupation of Syrian territories remains the main reason behind the escalation of situation and obstructing the return of security and stability, and this was evident in its support to the “QSD militia” to strike the territorial integrity of Syria and loot the national resources in a flagrant violation of international law.

Representative of the Russian Coordination Center, Major General Cetnik Vyacheslav,   affirmed  that thanks to the active work of the Syrian and Russian coordination committees, more than two million Syrian citizens have returned to their places of residence until today.
