The 1st University Students’ Forum kicks off

Damascus, SANA – The 1st University Students’ Forum in Syria kicked off activities at Rida Said Hall in Damascus University with the aim of improving the youths’ skills and capabilities to ensure a secure and strong access to labor market.

The one-week forum, organized by the “Syrian Expertise” volunteer team in cooperation with the Syrian Marketing Association, will discuss a variety of reliable and constructive youth initiatives in social, scientific and university sectors which can be carried out as part of the reconstruction stage.

In a statement to SANA, the founder of “Syrian Expertise” project, Alaa al-Aeidi said that the main objective is to encourage youths’ creativity to launch development initiatives that could help develop their society, as well as training them to assume the responsibility of implementing their ideas.

In turn, Director of public Relations in the project, Dyala Jabr, said that the activity aims at spreading the idea of volunteer work and shedding light on new ideas, adding that the students will be divided into several teams and they will submit their proposals and initiatives.

13 initiatives will be selected through a voting process after which the top three will be determined in the final stage.

The forum includes a wide range of training workshops, open discussion sessions, lectures and exercises.

Students of different specializations, including Medicine, Fine Arts, Economy, Tourism, Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences, from Damascus University and the Private Syrian University will take part in the activity under the supervision of specialized trainers and volunteers from “Syrian Expertise” team.

“Syrian Expertise” team is a developmental project aims at enhancing the youths’ skills, capabilities and awareness to enter labor market. 30 volunteers are working in the team which started its activities at the beginning of the crisis in Syria.
