US Web Site: Washington coercive measures against Syria a crime against humanity

Washington, SANA- The World Socialist Web Site (SWSW) described the US unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria as “amounts to a crime against humanity,” asserting that under these conditions, the military occupation, along with a crippling US sanctions regime block the flow of relief supplies needed for saving the victims and facing the repercussions of Monday’s massive earthquake.

In an articles written by Bill Van Auken, the Web Site said that “As Syria digs earthquake victims from the rubble, US occupation denies access to direly needed energy supplies.”

The aim of the presence of the American troops is to occupy and control Syria’s main oil and gas fields, denying their resources to the Syrian population. This goal is inseparable from the draconian and unilateral US sanctions regime, which includes the infamous “Cesar Act”, which imposes secondary sanctions on anyone in the world who dares come to the aid of Syria. Together, these policies are aimed at targeting the living of the Syrians, the WSWS pointed out.

In addition to hijacking Syria’s energy resources, the US occupation forces are also deployed to control the strategic border crossings, and this also serves to disrupt the deployment of rescue teams and relief supplies to Syria.

Four years,  after the defeat of Daesh terrorist organization, US troops remained in Syria on the pretext of combating terrorism to continue the illegitimate presence of its forces in Syria to plunder the Syrian oil, the web site indicated.

Following the increase of demands to lift the blockade on Syria, particularly after the humanitarian catastrophe which affected the country due to the destructive earthquake, the US administration has issued a new misleading decision on partial freezing of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, the Web site said, adding that Syria has confirmed that this decision is just a repeated copy of previous false decisions that aim at giving false humanitarian impression  as it stipulates for alleged exceptions for humanitarian purposes while the facts prove its lies.

All US and Western sanctions against Syria must be ended immediately, along with Washington’s criminal military occupation of Syrian soil and Syria’s oil fields, and massive resources must be provided to save lives and rebuild the war-ravaged country.
