Education Minister, FAO organization discuss boosting cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa discussed on Wednesday with, Mike Robson, Representative of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO” cooperation in the educational field.

Tabbaa pointed out to the importance of supporting rural schools, introducing and activating school gardens for secondary schools, caring for the environment and projects that serve sustainability, the need to benefit from production and enhance professional tendencies from the 2nd to the 9th grade.

The Minister stated that the Ministry, together with the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands “ACSAD”, began an experiment to strengthen the environmental and agricultural system in the National Center of the Distinguished by monitoring the growth of plants through cameras, and the experience of the World Food Program by providing dates made to students and cooperating in creating a profession of food packaging and preparation.

In turn, Robson talked about strengthening the areas of cooperation with the Ministry through training cadres in agricultural and vocational schools, promoting school garden projects and the experience of rural schools.
