Arab League holds emergency meeting to discuss ongoing Israeli aggression on Jenin

Cairo, SANA-  The Arab League held an emergency meeting in Cairo on Tuesday to address the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp in the West Bank.

The current chair of the Arab League Council, the permanent representative of Egypt, Mohammad Mustafa Orfy stated that the Israeli occupation authorities are clearly and explicitly violating international law and reference.

Orfy denounced the brutal massacres carried out by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians, which undermine and impede efforts to reach a two-state solution, stressing that the Palestinian cause is the central cause of the Arabs and the cause of honorable and free people worldwide.

In turn, Syria reiterated its condemnation of the brutal Zionist aggression against Jenin, which constitutes a new cycle of crimes committed by the Israeli occupation entity against the Palestinian people, with the support of the United States, which claims to protect human rights.

The deputy permanent representative of Syria explained that the abhorrent international silence encourages the occupying entity to persist in its crimes, stressing that Palestine remains the main cause of the Arabs.

In this context, he emphasized the importance of implementing the Security Council resolutions that support the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state throughout their national territory with Jerusalem as its capital, in addition to the resolutions related to ending the Israeli occupation.

At its conclusion, the emergency meeting of the Arab League adopted a resolution condemning the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian territories, especially Jenin.

The resolution confirmed solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of this aggression, and support for the rights of the Palestinian people, on top of which is their right to determine their future, the return of Palestinian refugees, and the establishment of their independent and sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The resolution also recommended a set of Arab moves to urge the international community to condemn this aggression and hold Israel accountable for its crimes and hold the perpetrators accountable.
