Dr. Shaaban to Chinese delegation: boosting bilateral relations leads to strategic partnership

Damascus, SANA-Special Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, discussed with the Director-General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, Wang Di, areas of joint cooperation and their future prospects.

During their meeting held Monday, topics related to enhancing cooperation in various fields along with initiatives presented by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the past years related to international security, human civilization, and economic growth were reviewed, in addition to the Belt and Road Initiative.

Dr. Shaaban said that President Bashar al-Assad considered his meeting with President Xi Jinping as so importance and historic that brought about a qualitative shift in relations leading to a strategic partnership, stressing the necessity of consolidating action steps between the two countries to further raise the level of the relationship.

The Special Advisor Shaaban stressed that the bilateral ties have developed greatly in recent years, noting that the relationship with China is important for all developing countries, not just Syria, and it is necessary to strengthen this partnership further in various fields during the next stage with the major changes in the international situation and the prominence of China’s role.
