Arab League condemns Israeli occupation’s attacks on Syria and Lebanon and crimes in Gaza

Cairo-SANA- The Arab League Council condemned the Israeli occupation entity’s attacks on Syria and Lebanon, and its brutal crimes in the Gaza Strip, calling on the UN Security Council to work on stopping them immediately.

At the conclusion of its extraordinary meeting at the headquarters of the League in Cairo at the level of delegates, the Council affirmed its condemnation of the Israeli aggression that targeted a residential neighborhood in Damascus two days ago, as an assault on the sovereignty of Syria and a threat to the security of its citizens as well as the regional and international peace and security.

The Council also condemned the continued crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, the destruction of civilian buildings and facilities , calling on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities for preserving international peace and security, and to take a binding decision to stop the systematic Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.

It called on the US and the countries supporting the Israeli aggression within the Security Council to adopt positions consistent with international law and international humanitarian law, and to oblige “Israel” to stop its aggression against the Palestinian people and its plans aimed at their forced displacement.

The Arab League Council warned of the danger of forced displacement of about two million Palestinians who have become displaced inside the Gaza Strip. It stressed that the Arab countries will not allow another Nakba of 1948 and will not be complacent in confronting this situation, saying that it will take the necessary political, diplomatic, legal and economic steps to prevent the liquidation of the Palestinian Question, warning that any country’s complicity with Israeli plans for the forced displacement of the Palestinians makes it an accomplice in the crime.

The Council condemned the ongoing siege on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the escalation of Israeli crimes in the occupied West Bank.

The Council’s final statement praised the legal efforts made by South Africa to prosecute Israel before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing the crime of genocide.

The Arab League Council affirmed that the only way to achieve security, stability and peace in the region is when the Palestinians gain their freedom and independence by ending the occupation of Palestinian land occupied in 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.
