Syria’s delegation meets UN as part of the work of the 21st international meeting under Astana formula

Astana, SANA- The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic to the 21st international meeting on Syria under the Astana formula, headed by Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bassam Sabbagh, met the United Nations delegation, headed by Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Syria, Najat Rochdi.

The two sides discussed during their meeting on Wednesday in Astana the agenda of the international meeting and the role of the UN regarding the situation and developments in Syria.

The Syrian delegation met earlier on Wednesday in two separate meetings with the Russian delegation, headed by President Putin’s Special Envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, and the Iranian delegation, headed by Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji, as well as the work on the international meeting’s agenda was discussed.

The 21st International Meeting on Syria started activities on Wednesday morning in the Kazakh capital, with the participation of the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic and the delegations of the guarantor states of the Astana Process (Russia, Iran and Turkey).
