Beijing, SANA- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip constitutes a disgrace for human civilization, renewing Beijing’s calls for an immediate ceasefire.
Wang’s remarks came in a press conference on the sidelines of the second session of the 14th National People’s Congress of China.
“It is a tragedy for humanity and a disgrace to civilization… as we are witnessing in the twenty-first century such an unstoppable humanitarian catastrophe,” the chinese diplomat was quoted by AFP as saying.
He continued: “The disaster in Gaza once again reminded the world of the fact that it is no longer possible to ignore that the Palestinian territories have been occupied for a long time,” expressing his country’s support for the full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.
Wang added “The long-awaited desire of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state can no longer be avoided, and the historical injustice suffered by the Palestinian people cannot continue for generations without being corrected.”
