Damascus, SANA- Minister of High education Bassam Ibrahim discussed on Sunday with Mr. Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, Head of the Mission of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Damascus and the accompanying delegation the prospects for scientific and health cooperation.
Minister Ibrahim pointed to the role of UNHCR in providing many humanitarian tasks and supporting development projects, in addition to its follow-up on refugee issues, indicating the importance of the two signed agreements on the educational and health fields.
In spite of the education sector has been subjected to a lot of vandalism and destruction as a result of the war on Syria, the educational process and the work of hospitals continued in training of students of medical colleges and graduate students and in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, Minister of high education said.
The Minister underlined the ministry’s endeavor to strengthen the partnership with the commission in order to serve the process of activating work at the scientific and medical level.
In turn, Llosa said that the plan of supporting the education and health is one of the priorities of the commission’s work, pointing out that Syria has withstood despite the terrorist war on it and the economic blockade.
