First batch of graduates from Tourism Faculty, Damascus University

Damascus, SANA- The commencement of the first batch of the students of Tourism Faculty, named “Syria…Icon of History and Life Worthiness”, was held on Monday at Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel.

Minister of Tourism Bishir Yazaji said that the batch embraces qualified and innovative cadres who would upgrade tourism sector in Syria and transform it into a profitable industry whose profits will be invested in the development and services.

Minister Yazaji added that the Ministry will provide jobs for the three top graduates, reiterating the necessity of supporting youths and refining their academic skills to be able to enter the job market and to shoulder their responsibilities in the reconstruction process.

He hoped that the graduates will play a key role in developing tourism promotion through using the modern technology and that they would be able to develop the administration to upgrade the level of tourism culture in Syria which has the potentials to be at the forefront of tourism destinations in the world.

For his part, Minister of Higher Education, Mohammad Amer Mardini expressed readiness to provide the Tourism Faculty and its cadres with all of their needs, calling upon the graduates to develop their language and computer skills to meet the needs of the job market.

Mardini said that academic certificate is a passport into the job market yet refining the skills would strengthen them and enhance their existence.

Rector of Damascus University Mohammad Hassan al- Kirdi said that the 43 graduates are a national treasure and they are the pillars of building Syria, referring to the rapid development witnessed by the university which supports the students and their activities to develop their knowledge in harmony with the market.

For his part Dean of Tourism Faculty Tayssir Zahran said that the message of the Faculty is represented in developing tourism sector through developing the human resources and supplying the students with required values, knowledge and skills, in addition to paying attention to the quality of academic and applied teaching and developing it according to the market.

In a statement, the graduates stressed that they will defend the homeland and that they will work on highlighting its deep-rooted history and eternal monuments, thanking the teaching cadres of the faculty.
