Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2015 kicks off with Syria’s participation

Damascus, SANA – The Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2015 kicked off on Saturday in Indonesia with the participation of the national commission of the Syrian Scientific Olympics.

Head of the Commission Imad al-Azb told SANA that the participation is done online in a session consisting of five consecutive hours, with the competitions consisting of three algorithms and coding problems to solve.

He said the APIO will help the participants prepare for the 27th International Olympiad in Informatics due to be held in Kazakhstan in July, hoping the Syrian team will achieve satisfactory results in the APIO.

The Syrian team consists of Alexander Abbas, Joud al-Zouzou, Mahmoud Hassan, Mohammad Bishr al-Masri, Mohammad Dweik, Wissam Rakkab, and Yazan al-Khedr.
