PM affirms necessity of enhancing economic relations between Iraq and Syria

Damascus, SANA_ Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi affirmed Sunday that historical relations and joint destiny that bind the two countries of Syria and Iraq require both countries to advance economic, trade, developmental relations and enhancing them by activating bilateral signed agreements and signing new ones.

Al-Halqi, during a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador in Damascus Dr. Alaa al-Jawadi who is wrapping up his missions as ambassador in Syria, pointed out the necessity of cooperation to combat terrorism and to enable the peoples of the region to start reconstruction stage and achieve stability.

For his part, al-Jawadi asserted Iraqi leadership and people support to Syria in confronting terrorism, stressing that Iraqi government adherences to develop economic and trade relation Between both countries.

The Foreign and Expatriates Ministry held a farewell reception on April 20th, for the Iraqi Ambassador in Damascus who fulfilled his tasks as ambassador in Syria.
