Army establishes control over three villages in Lattakia

Lattakia, SANA – The army established control over three villages and a number of hills in the northern countryside of the coastal Lattakia province, according to a military source.

The army units, in cooperation with the popular defense groups, eliminated the last groups of terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra organization and its affiliates in the villages of al-Rayaneh, Beit Aiyoush and al-Mazraa and the hills surrounding them in Qastal Maaf area, the source told SANA.

The army had its control over those areas after fierce clashes with the terrorist organizations, that left large numbers of their members killed or wounded.

The source added that large amounts of weapons, ammunition and vehicles equipped with various types of machineguns were destroyed in the course of the confrontations.

The new achievements followed recent advances made earlier this month when the army assumed control of al-Zaitouneh hill, Jouret Magharet al-Rashwan, Rweiset al-Mallouheh, Rweiset Jouret al-Zaatar and Rweiset Jouret al-Mdawreh in the northern countryside of Lattakia.

Meanwhile, the army units targeted more hideouts and groups of terrorists in the villages of Jebb al-Ahmar and Markashliyeh, leaving many of them dead, in addition to destroying several of their vehicles and mortar launch pads.
